Start with the job of the spring

For a custom disc spring, the first useful question is not only "what is the size?" It is "what must this spring hold, where does it move, and what happens if the load drops?"

A valve packing stack, a flange live loading set and a tooling preload pack can all use similar looking Belleville washers. The risk is different, so the quotation should not be built from size and material alone.

Geometry details that change the quotation

OD, ID and thickness are only the starting points. Free height, cone height, support surface, edge condition, working deflection and stack arrangement affect both performance and manufacturability.

If the part replaces an existing spring, send the old drawing if possible. Photos of the installed position also help, especially when the spring works in a narrow space or a stacked assembly.

  • OD, ID, thickness and free height.
  • Target load at a defined deflection.
  • Stack direction and number of pieces.
  • Available space, contact surface and assembly limits.

Material, heat treatment and surface condition

Material names can hide a lot of differences. 51CrV4, stainless steel, Inconel, Hastelloy and titanium alloys each need the right heat treatment route and surface expectation before a price is meaningful.

For high temperature, corrosion or fatigue duty, ask how the supplier will control material traceability, hardness, load test points and surface condition. These items usually decide whether a sample approval goes smoothly.

Testing and documents buyers should agree early

Low risk parts may only need dimensional checks. Critical equipment often needs load testing, material certificate, hardness report, inspection record or a simple approval sample before production.

This does not mean every order needs heavy paperwork. It means the document level should match the application. If the requirement is unclear, the supplier may quote a price that looks good but does not cover what your team later asks for.

Communication details that save weeks

For export purchasing, the best RFQ gives both engineering and commercial data. Send quantity, sample quantity, target delivery date, certificate needs, packaging preference and the person who will approve the drawing or test report.

When some data is missing, say so directly. A good supplier can still help screen the design, but they need to know which values are fixed and which ones are still open.

أسئلة شائعة

What data should I send for a custom disc spring RFQ in China?

Send a drawing or available dimensions, target load, working deflection, stack arrangement, material, temperature, application, quantity, certificate needs and any replacement photos.

Can a Chinese supplier quote without a drawing?

Yes, for an early estimate. For a reliable price and sample plan, the supplier still needs geometry, load target, working travel, material direction and service conditions.

Why does a custom sample cost more than a standard disc spring?

Custom samples may need engineering review, tooling or setup time, heat treatment trial, load testing and extra communication before the part can be approved.
